Natural Versus Synthetic
Vitamin Supplements

There are two ways of producing vitamin supplements in a concentrated form. They can either be extracted from food sources or they can be produced by synthesis. There is a vast difference between natural whole food vitamins and synthetic vitamins. Natural vitamins contain the total complex family of nutrients (known & unknown) just as they are found in nature. Synthetic vitamins are constructed in laboratories by chemically combining molecules. Synthetic vitamins will never have the effects of natural vitamins simply because they are inorganic and are missing many parts of the whole complex.

Synthetic vitamins are popular because they are easier and cheaper to manufacture in a lab than to grow and harvest the crops. In producing synthetic vitamins, scientists combine molecules in an attempt to replicate vitamins found in nature. However, many chemicals used in this process cannot be absorbed and metabolized by the body. In fact, the prolonged use of synthetic vitamins can become very toxic to your body. Science does not come close to duplicating nature. In a laboratory, chemists can duplicate sea water that is chemically identical to natural sea water. However, if you put fish into this synthetic water, they will die. Think of Tang versus fresh squeezed orange juice!

Synthetic vitamins are not really vitamins at all. They are fractions (parts) of vitamins. An excellent example of the difference between natural whole food and synthetic vitamins is vitamin C. If you purchase a synthesized bottle of vitamin C, you are buying ascorbic acid. Ascorbic acid is manufactured from super-refined corn sugar and is only a small part of vitamin C. Vitamin C is not simply ascorbic acid. Vitamin C also contains bioflavonoid complexes, tyrosinase and several other factors. Your body needs all parts of a vitamin to function and will rob the missing elements from your tissue and bones to get the missing parts. Taking synthetic vitamins can actually create a nutritional deficiency and contribute to chemical imbalances!

The best types of vitamins are food concentrates. All-natural whole foods are alive, vibrant and have all of the factors and nutrients found in nature. Natural whole food vitamins have ingredient names that are from natural foods or plants. This is as close to nature as you can get! Research has proven that vitamins from all-natural whole food sources are easier for your body to absorb, safer and more effective than laboratory created synthetic vitamins. Your vitamin supplements should be “from the vine, not the vat”.
