THE FISH OIL PHENOMENON
Fats are essential for the proper functioning of the body. “Essential” means something that is needed. However, not all fats are created equal. One fat, in particular, is more essential than others. This fat is Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are found primarily in fish. You can get Omega-3 fatty acids either from your diet or by supplementing your diet with a high quality fish oil.
Dr. Barry Sears, author of “Enter the Zone” and more recently “Omega RX” states that taking daily doses of pharmaceutical grade (purified) fish oil may be one of the most important actions a person can take to prevent illnesses and chronic diseases such as:
Alzheimer’s
Cancer
Heart Disease
Heart Attacks
Stroke
Arthritis
Depression
Hypertension
Chronic Pain Who wouldn’t want to prevent these kinds of illnesses???
Omega-3 fatty acids are also known to be beneficial in addressing issues such as: ADD, ADHD, bi-polar problems and many other health problems.
Along with a diet high in complex carbohydrates (i.e., vegetables, most fruits and whole grains, not processed foods), moderate protein and good fats (like fish, flaxseed and extra virgin olive oil), the addition of purified fish oil can go a long way towards keeping you and your family healthy for a long time.
It takes approximately 100 pounds of health food grade fish oil to make 1 pound of pharmaceutical grade fish oil. This process is costly. Although pharmaceutical grade fish oil is obviously more expensive, it is more effective and it does not contain any toxic by-products (like mercury, PCPs and other pollutants). You’re worth it so buy the best when shopping for fish oil!
